Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the commonly asked questions that we get. If you have a different question than one listed below, feel free to contact us.

It's simple! When a property manager has a rental available or knows when it will become available, the manager lists the rental property with us. Then when potential renters are looking to find a new place to live, are thinking of moving to the area, or are ready to start a new business, they can search these property listings to get a better feel of all the area's options.

With Ashland Current Rentals:

  • Listings are in front of more than 20,000 unique visitors a month
  • We maintain working relationships with area employers to help newcomers quickly find places to live
  • Property managers can spend less time showing rentals to people who may not ultimately be interested
  • Renters can easily access information about potential rental options

For property managers in particular, every moment spent without an occupant is a day that your property isn't paying for itself. We can help.

Yes. We only offer this service for rental listings that exist in certain zipcodes. This way, when potential renters are looking for places to rent, it's clear  where the rentals shown here are located.

We went to the streets and spoke with people who moved here for new jobs or lived here for their entire lives, and those thinking of starting new businesses. The biggest complaints we heard from renters, over and over again, is that it is hard to find places to rent in our Northern Wisconsin area. Then, we spoke to property managers, and found that they were often spending unnecessary time showing rentals to people who ended up not being interested.

Thinking about what we learned, it became obvious that one of the situation's actual issues was weak communication between renters and property managers. Finding the situation unacceptable for our community, we decided to use our skills to remedy the situation. Ashland Current Rentals is the product of this work.

Ultimately, this service will be subscription-based at some point in the future.  We will be launching this service at no charge at the outset to allow our community to get used to how it works.

As with every business there are bills, ranging from servers, to advertisements, to office supplies - and they come first.

Then comes the fun stuff. A portion of subscriptions will be used to support journalist-owned local news, so we can make sure that our community always has access to free news and information.

The rest gets reinvested into improving Ashland Current Rentals and developing other local resources to help strengthen our community. We live here and love our community, so this whole thing is about doing our part to help our area be a better place to live day after day.

Our first goal with this rental listing site was to develop a strong foundation that we can build upon. So now we can ask the question, "What's next?"

  • Reviews - Read reviews from other people that rented the place in which you're interested. Rented a property before? Why not share your experience?
  • Maintenance Requests - Allowing you to notify your property manager of any issues with the property and be able to see that they have viewed your request and have given you an estimated completion date.
  • Track Utility Costs - See how much a place costs, beyond rent. That way, you won't be surprised by the size of a winter heat bill.
  • Pay Rent Online - Forget about worrying about whether or not the check that you mailed "got there." Pay on time every time, and have a record of your payment.
